The HEROES Act
The Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act is a modified form of the first coronavirus relief paycheck plan (the CARES Act). It is a bill that was passed in the House of Representatives that plans to distribute $3.4 trillion for COVID-19 relief, including a $25,000 pandemic premium pay increase for essential frontline workers and the equivalent to a raise of an additional $13 per hour from the start of the public health emergency until December 31, 2020

Members of the ASAP advocacy committee have called and emailed our Virginia senators to urge them to pass the
HEROES Act. Part of the act allocates funds to public schools, which would help FCPS better manage various difficulties that have arisen due to the pandemic. We would also like for the HEROES Act funds to be distributed equitably, as current access to technology, PPE, and sanitation products is not consistent amongst FCPS families
This is part of ASAP’s larger goal of advocating to address the wealth disparity and unequal access to resources within Fairfax County.
